People often talk about what “life is like” at their company, but for Milan Patel, a software development intern at Epic Systems, that phrase took on a more literal meaning. This summer, he lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and worked on the electronic medical records company’s 2-million-square-foot campus in Verona, full of buildings inspired by fairy tales, movies, and Harry Potter. Patel socialized with fellow interns and enjoyed what he described as amazing dining-hall food while designing, developing, and testing code.
