Admission Requirements – Non-Computer Science and Data Science Majors

  • Current UIC undergraduate students in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative AND math/science GPA of 2.5 for Illinois residents (2.75 for non-residents). Both the UIC cumulative GPA and the GPA for science and math courses must be met.
  • Successful completion of Math 180 (Calculus I)

Admission Requirements – Computer Science and Data Science Majors

  • Current UIC undergraduate students in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative AND math/science GPA of 3.0.* Both the UIC cumulative GPA and the GPA for science and math courses must be met.
  • Successful completion of Math 180 (Calculus I)
  • Successful completion of a first-level CS course equivalent to CS 111.
    • CS 112, CS 113, CS 107, or CS 109 are appropriate equivalent courses to CS 111

*Note: CS and DS are highly competitive. Meeting the minimum GPA requirement will not guarantee admission. Students’ GPAs should exceed 3.0 to increase their chances of being admitted.


Applicable Math/Science courses

The following courses are used when compiling the math and science GPA. * Students are not required to complete all courses, however, if completed they will be averaged.

  • MATH 180, MATH 181, MATH 210, or any additional 200-level or higher Math courses
  • PHYS 141 & PHYS 142
  • CHEM 122/123 & CHEM 124/125
  • EAES 101 & EAES 111
  • BIOS 110 & BIOS 120
  • CS 109, CS 111, CS 112, CS 113, CS 107

*Note: PHYS 100, CHEM 101, and Math courses below MATH 180 (MATH 110, MATH 121, etc.) are not calculated in the math/science GPA but are considered for the overall GPA.
