Best Paper Award
Assistant Professor Sidharth Kumar, seen here reflected in his computer screen, and his graduate research assistant Landon Dyken received a best paper award at the 13th IEEE Symposium on Large Data Analysis and Visualization. Their paper, “Speculative Progressive Raycasting for Memory Constrained Isosurface Visualization of Massive Volumes,” focused on developing new algorithms that can take advantage of the computationally powerful general processing unit in the web browser. “By leveraging webGPU’s computational power natively on the browser, we have developed scientific visualization tools that are accessible to a much wider audience without sacrificing functionality,” Kumar said.
