In a communication to the UIC College of Engineering community, Dean Lola Eniola-Adefeso announced the launch of a strategic planning process designed to chart a course for enhanced excellence and impact in the coming years.
As noted in the Dean’s January 13 email, the College of Engineering has distinct assets – combining the research resources of a R1 university, the benefits of being in the heart of Chicago, and a talented and diverse student and faculty body. The College will complete a comprehensive strategic planning process to maximize these advantages and create and ambitious and achievable plan for growth. Starting in January and finishing in the fall semester, this process will engage community members, capturing their ideas to harness the college’s collective strengths and advance progress across key dimensions for the college.

“Together, we will identify actions to spur groundbreaking research, continue to train the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders, and expand our profile and impact within and beyond Chicagoland,” Eniola-Adefeso said.
The final strategic plan will be designed to position UIC Engineering as a global leader in engineering education and research, ensuring its commitment to advancing knowledge, solving real-world problems, and leveraging the power of our extended community to create a thriving, inclusive community.
A Strategic Planning Steering Committee will guide the process. Throughout the next nine months, the group will contact stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alums, industry, and peer institutions.
More information on the process and ways to contact the planners and steering committee can be found on the Dean’s Page.
