UIC’s College of Engineering is proud to welcome the class of 2014 to the ranks of our more than 22,500 alumni. The college held its 47th annual commencement ceremony on May 10, 2014 in the UIC Pavilion, awarding 362 baccalaureate, 250 master’s and 45 doctoral graduates in six departments. Peter Nelson, dean of the college, presided over the ceremony with an award presentation to faculty members Nantaporn Ratisoontorn and Vahe Caliskan for their excellence in teaching. Dr. Ratisoontorn was awarded a Silver Circle Award and Dr. Caliskan was awarded the Harold A. Simon Award. Along with Dr. Nelson, Associate Dean of the Graduate College Jonathan Art presented the degrees, and Christopher Burke, president of Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. and UIC professor of practice, gave the commencement address.
