UIC Computer Science Student Victor Mateevitsi UIC College of Engineering Bioengineering Student Jaimie Stewart
Inspired by comic book character Spider-Man, doctoral student Victor Mateevitsi developed and built, a system of wearable ultrasound sensors that can augment human sensory capacity. Jaimie Stewart, senior bioengineering major, plans to combine her passions for medicine, teaching, and minority participation in engineering.

UIC College of Engineering Image of Research Competition  
This year, three UIC Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) research assistants were recognized in the campus' 2013 Image of Research competition. First place went to Joshua Albers, a New Media Arts MFA student, second place went to Khairi Reda, a Computer Science PhD student, and a Finalist was Victor Mateevitsi, a Computer Science PhD student.

CS Prof. & Dept. Head, Bob Sloan appears on Channel 11's "Chicago Tonight" to discuss how Google's Gmail culls emails for information in order to better target ads.

Elsa Soto, Assistant Director, Academic Resource Center in the College of Engineering, has been awarded the Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award.

   
UIC College of Engineering Dino Megaridis UIC College of Engineering Cave2 WTTW channel 11

The University Scholars Program honors faculty members for superior research and teaching, along with great promise for future achievements. MIE Professor Constantine Megaridis is the recipient of this distinguished award.

WTTW Channel 11's "Chicago Tonight" airs story on EVL and CAVE2™ System on April 23rd.

   
UIC College of Engineering Star Wars Connection UIC College of Engineering Paul Gordon World War II veteran

WTTW (Channel 11) television's news show, "Chicago Tonight," aired the story "The Star Wars Connection". It profiles the involvement of EVL faculty, students and visiting artist Larry Cuba in making the computer graphics special effects for the 1977 Star Wars movie.

World War II veteran, Paul Gordon, has completed the Master of Engineering online program at 85 years old. Read about his life here.

   
UIC College of Engineering Amin Salehi-Khojin UIC College of Engineering Mark Gonzalez

MIE team of researchers headed by assistant professor Amin Salehi-Khojin have discovered a technique for controlling the sensitivity of graphene chemical sensors.

He's not your typical graduate student. Orthopaedist and engineering doctoral candidate, Mark Gonzalez, MD, started down the road to a PhD with the Master of Engineering online program.
